Lauren was my doula for my first and third babies.
Even though she herself could not be there when I lost my second baby at 23 weeks, she connected me with a doula who could support me in birthing my stillborn son. It was Lauren who told me to make sure I took photos of my baby, even if I felt like it was an impossible thing to do.
She has been an incremental person in my journey through motherhood and in bringing all my babies into the world.
After I lost my baby, she helped me find a therapist and dropped off the sweetest care package at my door. She arranged flowers for me and it was that gift that inspired me to always have fresh flowers for him in our home.
I was so terrified when I got pregnant again and she was there for me every step of the way. She believed in my ability to have a home birth more than I did! She supported me through a traumatic and stressful first birth experience with my first baby and encouraged me so thoroughly to pursue a home birth with my third.
I didn’t have faith in myself or in the birth process, but she held faith for me.
Even when I had gestational diabetes, she held that faith. And she was EXACTLY who I needed when my water broke at home and I delivered my third baby/second living child standing up in my bedroom, next to the memorial for the son we lost. She was my anchor and my lighthouse.
I feel so blessed to have her in my life. Even after the birth, she supported me on my breastfeeding journey and has become a critical part of my village. Until the day I die, I cannot share my journey of motherhood without mentioning Lauren! I love her so much!
