I dont even know where to begin about our time with Astrid! I was given her contact information through a provider via my job so was going into this whole "doula" thing pretty blindly but from our first conversation I knew I wanted to have her be a part of our parenthood journey. One of the reasons we went with her was because she is truly a one stop shop in terms of what she provides for her families. She is a LC, Sleep Consultant and Doula (birth and night time). The first time we met was over a LC appointment where she spent two hours with me just getting to know me, going over feeding plans, and just taking a look at all baby gear and giving me feedback/ guidance!
Astrid then returned after our daughter was born to begin her night time doula work that we had hired her for! As a nervous first time mommy, night one I couldnt possible imagine handing over our new baby to a person i met once but from the moment Astrid walked through our door I felt a sense of calm and peace. It was like we had a family member here caring for our new bundle. Astrid is kind, compassionate, knowledable and so so in tune with these little humans that I never skipped a beat. Her presense allowed us to take a few nights a week to just disconnect and reboot and get some MUCH needed sleep. She helped us get our girl on a loose schedule and provided such incredible guidance along the way to help set us up to be confident parents. I truly dont know if we would have gotten through the first 8 weeks as seemless as we did without her. Our last night with her felt so sad to me because we were going to miss her so much! Her night shifts started with a debrief of our daughter and how she did that day, and her shift ended with a quick touch base of how she did that night and any advice she could provide to make our days in between better.
Hiring Astrid was the best thing we could have done for ourselves during this new time in our lives!
