Grace was my doula for my first pregnancy and birth experience! I was very nervous and felt unprepared at 31 weeks pregnant before connecting with her. I eventually reached out to her and she met with me over coffee and explained what a doula was and how she would help and everything I should/would expect - and more! I cannot stress enough how incredibly helpful it was for her to help and teach my husband alongside me on how he can best support me during labor. He was my rock throughout my labor and delivery and he felt much more equipped after meeting with Grace and having her around in the delivery room! She helped me create and edit my birth plan, and she was available over the phone while I labored at home and coached me during contractions and timing on heading to the hospital. She promptly met us at the hospital I wanted to deliver at, and she was there throughout the whole birth of my son! I desired and "planned" (as much as one can) an unmedicated hospital birth, and with Grace's help and encouragement, (along with many others!) the Lord granted us just that! It was so helpful to have extra hands in the deliver room getting cold wash clothes for my forehead, water to drink and other tools/tricks to get through contractions. Grace modeled a posture of stability and coolness that rubbed off on us, and centered us on relying on Christ's strength to sustain us. Truly it was such a joy to work with her and to experience natural childbirth in such a positive way!
