I recently moved to Sandpoint and upon moving in, I discovered I was pregnant with my 5th child. I was 42 and it had been almost 6 years since my last child. I had given all of my maternity and baby items away, I didn't have an OBGYN and no family or friends nearby. I was an older mom and it felt like a completely new experience. My pregnancy was wrought with difficulties and I wasn't sure if I would even be able to deliver my child nearby as I was seeing a specialist at Seattle Children's. Once I got the go ahead to deliver in Coeur de'Alene as the danger had passed I was already 28 weeks pregnant. A friend of mine recommended Adelaine and I am so grateful she did. Adelaine came on the scene late and helped me put together the best "rushed" natural birth plan that we could come up with. Despite being induced and this being my 5th child, my labor was very long and arduous. Adelaine created a soothing environment when I needed it and then flipped it into the "it's go time, tough love" when I indicated I needed that. She gave me advice but never pushed. She encouraged my partner to be the strong advocate that I needed him to be when I felt overwhelmed and was in pain. This was my toughest pregnancy and a very hard labor but Adelaine was there every step of the way, giving me the tools I needed to feel confident in everything I did. The birth of my daughter was beautiful and empowering--everything I wanted it to be. Adelaine also provided post partum home visits and put together a meal train for me to help get me through those first few weeks. I highly recommend Adelaine for any woman seeking a doula , I am so grateful I was able to work with her.
