Jena was a wonderful birth doula. She provided emotional support, physical support, and so much love during my birth. My partner was there and he was amazing, but a doula is so important because the doula steps in where the male partner cannot.
Jena walked me thru the pregnancy, she was there when the contractions started and guided me through that experience; she met me at the hospital and was there until baby arrived 17 hours later.
She provided tools to help me naturally cope with the pain of labor and birth (I had a vaginal unmedicated birth). She was so supportive during the time of pushing and walked me thru everything. She provided a calm yet strong nurturing vibe to help me thru the most challenging and vulnerable moment of my life -- birth!
She also not only helped me make a birth plan, but she advocated for me at the hospital to best stick with the birth plan. I ended up not needing any interventions except a shot to get the placenta out. The staff at the hospital wanted to break my water and do other interventions and I had the strength to say no.
Jena also encapsulated my placenta and helped me post partum as well!
