I wish I wanted more kids so I could birth with Bree as my doula again! Her passion, knowledge, sense of humor, and ability to hold space made such a difference throughout both of my birth and postpartum experiences.
My first pregnancy went past 42 weeks and we chose to have a hospital induction after initially planning for a birth center. Going into the hospital, I was so relieved to have Bree on our team. The hospital is a whirlwind of faces and names, especially when you’re there for more than 24 hours of shift changes. Bree provided the continuity of care and calming presence that we needed to stay grounded. She is a wealth of knowledge about what to expect, no matter what twists and turns your birth takes. I was especially thankful for her suggested comfort measures and labor positions, and how she was able to help us implement them when the hospital staff seemed too busy to help. Ultimately, Bree’s knowledge and support was irreplaceable.
I got pregnant with my second baby and I knew we’d be hiring The Birth Collective again. I had a planned home birth at 41 weeks + 5 days gestation. That morning, I was having inconsistent contractions that I felt mostly in my back. Based on the info from my midwife about baby’s position, Bree guided me through a custom circuit to help baby settle down into my pelvis in a more optimal position before I took castor oil. It worked beautifully and I was in active labor within a few hours.
Lastly, she is an amazing photographer. I can’t believe the gorgeous, candid images she captures while doing everything else to support us. Your birth story inevitably won't go exactly to plan, so it's important to document such a monumental day with photography.
