Where do I begin? Mel was so supportive from the moment my husband and I first reached out to them. I had met with a few other doulas and Mel asked one specific question that made my decision so clear. Mel asked about my experience in the medical system (it hasn't always been a good one for me) and how I was feeling about the process of going through pregnancy and delivery in this context. Prior to my daughter's birth Mel was available to answer any and all questions I had while also providing emotional support and encouragement that pregnancy would not last forever and my baby would one day come despite passing her due date and my growing belly and exhaustion :)
I felt like Mel helped us prepare for all of the different scenarios that could happen in labor and delivery and the immediate postpartum. Ultimately we planned for most scenarios except the one that happened. Even though we expierenced a somewhat scary and rare postpartum complication, Mel supported my family every step of the way. Mel stayed with my husband and daughter while I underwent emergency surgery, providing comfort and distraction to my husband as well as teaching him some tricks of the trade when it came to feeding.
Following my daughter's birth, Mel has continued to be a source of support and comfort well beyond what I could ever have imagined. I could not be mor grateful to have found Mel and I would encourage anyone looking for compassionate care as well as someone with a wealth of knowledge to work with them.
