As soon as the pregnancy test turned positive I knew I wanted, needed, a different birth experience than my previous 3 births - one traumatic vaginal birth followed by 2 cesarean births. I knew a part of this change would be to hire a doula. I found Suzanne and knew she was it!! Her experience and knowledge with pregnancy/birth/postpartum and the OBs in Edmonton turned out to be exactly what my husband and I needed. She was there whenever I had a question during pregnancy/postpartum and was the quiet steady voice in labor when I doubted I could do it. She helped me navigate not-so-supportive doctors and truly keep my eye on what I wanted to try and achieve - an unmedicated vaginal birth following 2 cesarean births (VBA2C). And she did just that. I birthed my 10lb 2oz baby with her and my husband by my side. She reassured him throughout labor telling him what was normal and that helped keep him calm, which in turn helped me! My baby's birth was not without difficulty, birth is hard work!! But I felt supported and heard and taken care of and that was what I needed. I highly, highly recommend Suzanne and her team. She truly cares about birth experiences and that matters because birth matters. I am forever grateful she was part of my birth story ?
