Testimonial for Jet City Doulas
TLDR: This is the trifecta of doulas. Jet City Doulas' incredible presence, knowledge, and support turned a very difficult birth experience into one filled with love, care and gratitude. I am so grateful to JCD. If we have another child, I'll absolutely be calling Jet City Doulas again.
I cannot say enough great things about Jet City Doulas. The way they designed their support system for the birth process is thoughtful and comprehensive. Their birth prep were informative, evidence-based and empowering. They helped me understand my options and how I can make myself heard with my medical providers. They were so patient with all our questions. I felt as prepared as anyone could be going into the birth.
They were also with me every step of the way during labor. I was admitted to L&D unexpectedly. I went from low-risk to high-risk in a matter of hours. Mariah stopped by to support us (this was before I was in active labor so we didn't need a doula). Katie supported me through active labor. Because of medical complications, I had all the interventions and eventually had a C-section. Katie's calming presence, ability to ask insightful questions of the medical providers, and deep knowledge/perspective, were all critical to my coming out the other end emotionally and physically intact. I felt safe and in control, despite the circumstances.
And Jen - she's the godmother of lactation support. My baby and I had a lot of lactation challenges. We were under a lot of pressure to get the baby's weight up, and I was so stressed and anxious about breastfeeding. Jen listened with kindness, validated my feelings, and offered me realistic, practical options to try. With Jen, I knew I was safe, in a judgment-free zone, and that I could trust myself. I've now been exclusively breastfeeding for 6 months and going strong! We owe it all to Jen. I so wish I could write more but I've hit the character limit!!
