Hannah was wonderful! From the very beginning, when we had an initial interview with her, we knew that she was the right choice for us. She was very open, down to earth, and easy to talk to. She was honest with us about her personal philosophy and passion regarding birth, but was absolutely clear that she would be supportive of our own choices no matter what they were. In the weeks leading up to our baby's birth, we checked in regularly with her after every OB appointment, and she always asked very thoughtful questions and provided useful advice regarding our questions and concerns. When I had specific reservations about potential induction that my OB had suggested, Hannah gave me some encouraging words and reminders and helped put me at ease. On the day I went into labor, one thing my husband and I really appreciated was that Hannah was very upfront and truthful about the fact that she had recently had some illness circulating throughout her household. She had mentioned she was more than willing to still come and provide support, but also wanted us to be fully aware and wasn't trying to hide it at all. We really appreciated the transparency and opted for her to still come join us, and we were so glad she did! I had a rather quick birth, so Hannah wasn't with us for a super long time at the hospital, but she was still really helpful for the time that she was with us. She helped keep me grounded when things got really intense with my epidural-free birth and stepped right in and started applying all the techniques in her wheelhouse to help me cope, including helping guide my husband in what he could do. Her support right after birth and in the couple weeks postpartum was lovely as well. She went out of her way to order us food delivered to the hospital, made lactation energy balls for me, and brought flowers to our home. There are so many more things I could say, but I would 100% recommend Hannah to other families searching for a doula.
