Lydia-Carlie was, in one word, amazing. She was our postpartum doula for the birth of our first child, and came into our lives when our child was about four months old, much later than most people work with a postpartum doula. Despite this non-traditional journey, she was an invaluable support at a time when my spouse and I were figuring out how to balance parenting with work. She helped with typical postpartum doula tasks—helping feed us and the baby, folding baby laundry, diapering, soothing, naps—and also provided compassionate and non-judgmental emotional support. We'd had a difficult birth and she made space for me to process that in a way that I honestly don't think I could have if she'd come into our lives sooner. She also supported and encouraged me as I navigated balancing work with caregiving, and helped me get comfortable with the idea of having others care for our child. She was warm, personable, professional, and a good communicator. If we have another kid she'd be our first choice for a postpartum doula, and anyone would be lucky to work with her!
