She's like your own personal trainer - ready to guide and encourage you every step of the way with knowledge, empathy, care, and a strong sense of motivation and helpful words of encouragement. My husband and I interviewed a few doulas before choosing Christy because we knew she'd be the perfect combination of flexible and steadfast. I knew I'd look to her on those moments of uncertainty and feel certain. I knew she'd have my best interests at heart and would advocate for what I wanted in the moments I wouldn't be able to myself. She's a mom of 3 herself - she knows and appreciates what strength it takes to get through labor. And she also knows the sweet sweet love and joy waiting for you on the other side. In our experience, she knew when to be flexible and shift based on doctor's recommendations but also continued to speak up for the birthing positions and details we had discussed ahead of time.
She also has a passion for nutrition and movement so she was a wonderful resource leading up to the birth and also in postpartum. She was extremely reassuring in those weeks leading up to the due date (and beyond) as my anxiousness grew. And she was wildly compassionate and supportive during those early newborn days - continuing to celebrate with our family as well as maintain an eye of focus on my well-being and healing.
