Testimonial for Jen Hamilton, BS, Full Spectrum Doula, IBCLC

TL;DR- my husband and I considered moving but put it off until we are done having kids, because we can't lose this incredible doula.
She's the real deal, and I've been so lucky to have her supporting me during this transformative time in my life.

I have given birth with Jen by my side twice, and I will do it twice more if I get the chance. This woman's infectious personality and expertise is truly a sight to behold. In her prenatal visits and education, she's fun and quirky- an incredible educator.
Beside the fact that my body ejects babies like printer paper flying out of a copy machine (which everyone who hasn't experienced fast birth considers a positive- but can be quite jarring) my births were pretty text book. Jen preps in advance so that when you are at your most veunerable, she knows how to show up. She gets to know your partner. She does the leg work.
At the birth, she brings a bag of tricks to make a hospital room feel calm, funny, spiritual, reverent- truly you pick the vibe. When I wanted to draw a silly face on my bag of pitocin, she obliged with a sharpie and every nurse who came in got to laugh with us.
When my second child was born just as fast as my first but my placenta was potentially incomplete, she explained with clearly what would come next. She knew my future goals and was able to advise me (and held my emisis bag while I vomited during a manual uterine sweep). I dodged a full hysterectomy. Any future children should be named Jen.

When I was pregnant with our second baby and our financial circumstances had changed, I worried about not having Jen with us. She graciously figured out a payment structure. Jen was imperative for the second birth because of the incredible care she showed during our first postpartum. We became the best supported team for our child because Jen refused to give up on us. And now my child weighs 35lbs, so I'd say we did pretty good.
