I'm a first time mom and really enjoyed my doula experience with Heidy! She has a really calm, easy going, and informed approach to birth and a ton of experience with being a doula so it feels less like your working with a clicinican or even a "woo" spiritual healer and more like a friend who is just sharing their vast amount of experience with you. It really helped me feel calm and ultimately informed before going into the hospital and especially in the hospital itself. For example, she explained to my husband what all the monitors meant so he could follow along and was a wonderful advocate in the hospital as we worked through getting aspects of my birth plan fulfilled. When booking with her, you get monthly check in calls and one in-home visit, all of which were really helpful. Especially because she's so easy to talk to. I was expecting the monthly check in calls to be something my husband and I would need to prep for but instead, Heidy led the calls and then also made time to answer our questions at the end as well. Ultimately her organization here led to us feeling informed but also coaxed out additional questions or comments we might not have realized we had. We also had a similar experience with the in-home visit as well, giving us hands on feedback around massage, places in our house/positions that would be helpful for labor, some baby care information (ex. how to change a diaper, etc), and also measured my nipples so we could get the right size flanges ahead of time. All in all, highly recommend!!
