We hired Akemi as our doula and it was truly one of the best decisions we made to prepare for the birth of our first child! During my pregnancy, Akemi came to our home for many sessions of her excellent childbirth education class, and tailored it to our situation because we were planning a home birth. She also offered very helpful and hands-on guided bodywork exercises and continued coming regularly to help me with those once my baby was past his due date and I was getting worried about the possibility of induction.
Akemi brings great depth and breadth of experience to her work as a doula. Her passion for supporting birthing families was so clear every time we met with her.
When my labor began, I called Akemi at 5:30am after my contractions became very painful and she came right over to our house. For the next 24 hours she stayed with us, came to the hospital with us, and guided me through a long and intense labor. Akemi is so skilled, kind, and patient. She offers creative suggestions to help her clients cope with many of the more challenging aspects of pregnancy and childbirth.
A few days after our baby was born, she came to our house with delicious food and reflected on the experience of birth with us. It was such a joy to work with her, we feel so fortunate to have found such a devoted and gifted doula.
