Riva was an incredible support from start to finish. From our prenatal meetings, I felt completely at ease with her warm personality, which set her apart from other doulas I was interviewing. She gave me space to process my previous traumatic c-section and encouraged me as I planned for a home VBAC. She was always so kind when my my toddler was present too, which meant a lot.
In the final days of pregnancy, Riva checked in often and provided great tools to prepare both mentally and physically for labor.
During labor, Riva was a steady, grounding presence. She helped me find positions that encouraged my baby to engage and made adjustments based on how I was feeling, so I could stay fully immersed in “laborland” without having to think about logistics. She communicated with my midwife, used comfort measures like the rebozo, and helped manage pain so well that I didn’t even realize how far along I was. Even through a long pushing stage, she remained encouraging, gentle, and attentive. Offering water, replacing cool towels, and physically supporting me through every contraction.
Both my husband and I felt so supported by her presence. Our postpartum visits were just as helpful, giving me space to debrief, get lactation support, and even some help with my toddler. I can’t recommend Riva enough!
