When my wife’s water broke on the evening of October 18th, we had no idea we were about to go through a 31-hour labor filled with twists, turns, and emotional ups and downs. As a first-time dad, I didn’t know what to expect, but I do know we couldn’t have done it without Char.
Char showed up early in the morning and immediately brought a sense of calm and confidence to the room. From helping my wife with positioning and comfort techniques to explaining what was happening at every stage, she made sure we felt informed and supported the entire time. There were moments when things got really tough: slow progress, swelling, exhaustion, and stress, but Char never wavered. She was steady, reassuring, and always knew just what to say or do.
She helped me be a better partner through it all. When I felt helpless or unsure, she gave me the tools and encouragement to stay present and support my wife in the ways she needed. Her presence made the room feel safer, more grounded, and more focused.
When our son finally arrived in the early hours of October 20th, hand by his face like a little superhero, Char was right there with us, cheering us on and making sure we were okay. Her care didn’t stop at the birth. She stayed to make sure we were settled and had everything we needed.
We’re so grateful to have had Char by our side. She was more than a doula. She was a guide, a coach, and a calming force during one of the most intense and beautiful experiences of our lives.
