My husband and I first started looking for a doula because he has a hard time with medical procedures (think fainting while getting shots) and we were concerned about having support for me if something were to happen. We were matched with Akemi through Baltimore Doula Project and could not have been happier with our experience. Akemi provided us with so much support in different ways. She provided us with education and points of view not always given to new parents in some childbirth education classes. She worked with me to find my style. But most importantly Akemi was NEEDED come day of birth and she showed up in all the ways. After a lot of labor, an epidural was a choice of mine and she supported me. After a lot more labor when we were faced with some decisions she provided her advice with no judgement. She continued to be there and when a c-section was determined to be needed she was there with me for it. Having her with us provided so much peace of mind because we didnt know what to expect and having another advocate was so crucial, especially as first time parents. I truly could not have done it without her and have not an ounce of regret. She is so sweet and caring and invested. She is very knowledgeable and brings no judgement into the space with her, which was imporant to me. I would always recommend her.
