My partner Jarrett and I are really grateful for Doula Dawn! She was a wealth of knowledge and ongoing support during our birth journey. As first time parents with uncertainties of our health care system it was very important for us to have someone to advocate and keep us informed of what to expect and provide us with also alternate methods.
Dawn helped us come up with a birth plan and was very communicative through out the whole process from the time we started working together and followed up a lot post Partum to make sure we were okay. She also helped guide me on how to get my baby to fully latch and showed me different ways to do it.
During the day of delivery, she met us at the hospital and helped me keep calm and breathe which was harder than I thought it would be. I also appreciated that she provided me with a TENS unit which helped me with pain management so I didn't need an epidural. I was able to have the natural delivery I wanted even when the doctor expresssed the possibility of a c section (which made me more anxious) but Doula Dawn helped me calm down so I could have the delivery I wanted.
Lastly, what I loved the most about her is her "keep it real" personality. She is very direct,honest, and straight to point . Really felt that she genuinely cared and gained our respect and trust through her actions.
If we have another baby, I would def have her as a doula again. We highly recommend for anyone out there looking for that guiding light and advocate that will have your back and keep your interests above all.
