Victoria was literally a God send. I was out shopping for a nursery chair and saw her talking about God. I felt it would be nice to know her, but kept walking. Later, Victoria found me in the store and said God told her to talk to me. She shared she was a doula and had just moved from Wichita. We exchanged info and booked her for our delivery.
I was 7–8 months pregnant and had wanted a doula, but it hadn’t worked out. I had prayed for help, especially after a prior labor that almost ended in an emergency c-section with hemorrhaging. When Victoria approached me, I felt a weight lift from my chest—as if God sent her to help me.
Victoria was a great resource for the last part of my pregnancy. She offered stretches and exercises to help baby drop and relax my pelvic floor, sent videos of the stretches instead of just words, and shared prayers when I was stressed about being overdue or uncomfortable.
I wanted a natural birth with no epidural and to stay upright, and I feel like without God, my husband, and Victoria, it wouldn’t have been possible. She showed up at 10pm and stayed until 3am after I delivered. She brought a TENS unit, a labor comb, and honey sticks that gave me energy. She and my husband gave counter pressure the whole time, suggested positions to help baby descend, and whispered encouragement reminding me God designed me for this.
I truly couldn’t have done it without her support. I would 100/100 recommend her for your birth experience, whether Christian or not. Doing at least one birth without an epidural is amazing—the high of knowing what your body is capable of is incredible.
