Britney made us feel comfortable from the very beginning when we met on a video call. She patiently answered our questions and provided thought-provoking prompts to ensure we were prepared as much as possible for the birth experience. She met my whole birth team (my husband, mom, and sister - quite the crew!) in our home ahead of time and even met my mother-in-law on a video call, doing a wonderful job of making our family feel included and prepared to support us.
When I went past my due date and was weighing different options, Britney was available by text and phone to discuss not just the medical options available but the attendant emotions I was feeling. She provided wonderful perspective that helped me get through those last days/weeks calmly and enjoy the end of my pregnancy!
Once it came time to actually bring our baby into the world, I was so grateful to have Britney there. We were sent to triage twice before being admitted and had to navigate a lot of curveballs - Britney was the best sounding board and made me feel safe and confident even as my ideal birth preferences list seemed to be getting crossed off one by one. She provided physical support (thank heavens for hip squeezes!), emotional support, and even joined the medical team at times to help with my positioning once I had received an epidural and at times when my baby was in distress - evidence of the trust she's built at hospitals in the area. I can't imagine going through the multi-day experience of my labor and birth without Britney. She supported me and my husband immensely.
Britney also seamlessly blended into the friends and family who checked up on us after the birth. We talked through the birth experience and processed the challenging moments together. I highly recommend working with Britney if you are looking for a positive, flexible, supportive, no-nonsense doula!
