Alyssa came highly recommended by several friends, and that was all I needed to know. My husband, on the other hand, thought it was a little silly to hire a doula when we’d already have nurses and doctors. Let’s just say… he’s now her biggest fan!
From the start, Alyssa was a steady presence and the advocate I didn’t know I needed. She helped me feel confident and supported through every phase of labor — and just as importantly, she helped my husband feel calm and capable as a first-time dad. There were moments when I was making birthing noises neither of us even knew existed inside me (haha), and he felt completely helpless watching me go through it. Alyssa knew exactly how to reassure him, guide him, and help him be part of the process instead of feeling like a bystander.
After three hours of pushing, I was told I’d need a C-section. They said only one person could come into the OR, but Alyssa worked her magic and made it possible for both her and my husband to be there. He had been so worried about me being alone — and honestly, I can’t imagine going through that moment without both of them by my side.
Alyssa was also amazing throughout pregnancy — always available for questions, never pushy about her own beliefs, and constantly advocating for my preferences. She brought so much peace, strength, and reassurance to what could have been a scary experience. I can’t recommend her enough!
