When we found out we were expecting our second child, Barbie was one of the very first people we shared the news with. I knew in my heart that I wanted her to be part of welcoming our daughter. During my first pregnancy and the birth of my son, Barbie was a steady source of reassurance and encouragement—her support was truly invaluable. Reflecting on both of my births, I feel deeply thankful to have had her by our side every step of the way. Her gentle presence and thoughtful guidance brought me comfort and the confidence to move forward with the labor and birth experience we’d hoped for.
Barbie was always there to listen, especially when the pressure from my provider to come in for an induction felt overwhelming. I was already laboring at home but felt the weight of urgency from the hospital staff, who didn’t understand my situation. I called Barbie, and she met me with such calm assurance that I was able to gather my thoughts and let my provider know I would come in when I was truly ready. Because of this, I was able to have an unmedicated birth and go into labor on my own terms.
We were all a bit amazed when my daughter arrived at 10 lbs, 1 oz! The labor and birth were smooth, and I truly believe that’s thanks in large part to the way Barbie cares—always considering what’s best for the mother. Every pregnancy, every labor, and every baby has its own story, and I am so grateful Barbie was there for both of my children’s births.
