As a first time mom I was anxious about how the birth would go. Jess has a calming voice and presence and I felt more at ease with her. We did two in-person sessions at our house where we discussed all things birth related and practiced coping mechanisms. We learned a lot from Jess. She gave us resources to watch, answered all our questions, and she helped put our mind at ease before the birth. The birth ended up being more than 48 hours, had many complications and finally ended in C-section. Jess was there through it all. She and my husband used techniques to help me through the contractions, she recommended position changes to help bring baby down, and offered words of encouragement. She was also able to take over when my husband needed a rest consodering how long the labor was. She helped us navigate tough decisions, situations, and advocated for me and my preferences. She and my husband both were able to be in the operating room during the C-section since the hospital allowed it. She was there through it all. Finally after baby came and we were situated and able to rest, she went home. Her support didn't stop there, though. In the weeks following the birth she checked in with us and made sure we were doing alright and had everything we needed. Again she answered any questions we had. We also had two home visits where we got to discuss anything on our mind and ask questions. Jess is also a certified sleep consultant so we got to use her expertise in that when bedtime wasn't going the way we expected. By implementing her suggestions we were able to improve some of the bedtime struggles we were experiencing. Jess has helped us pre-birth, during birth, post-birth and she would not hesitate continue helping us. My husband said he's so glad we hired her for the birth and doesn't know what we would have done without her and I agree.
