As a first time Mama, I knew my goals for birth would be to have a physiologic birth with as little interventions as possible while still having the security of being in a hospital setting. Among the top of our list in preparing for this goal was to find a doula who could be a support to us both during pregnancy and through birth. As I scoured profiles on a doula registry in our area, Becky’s stood out among the rest. She was my first pick and we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her.
From our first consultation all the way through postpartum, Becky’s experience and personality (real, honest, steady, calm) were invaluable to us as she answered questions and offered resources that made us feel at ease and confident in our journey. Things that Becky said to us leading up to the birth helped both me and my husband make informed and peaceful decisions in often pressure filled moments; decisions I fully believe made positive differences in our birth story. She was a voice of calm in my ear when labor got intense and during a long pushing process and above all, helped me to stay in control and empowered to bring our sweet boy into the world.
