Kathleen was my Doula through two births and one loss. If I had to describe her in three words, I would choose empathetic, thoughtful and supportive. I liked her from the beginning. She was recommended to me by my doctor and has always been prompt and professional. Kathleen gives me her opinion, lets me decide what might work for me and then helps it happen in real life. She is a passionate, expert-level doula and anticipated my needs (some I didn't even know I had!) without me even saying anything.

When I met her during my first, I was pretty clueless about pregnancy and labor despite my background as a nurse. She connected me with vital resources, including a pelvic floor PT, masseuse, chiropractor and education. I felt like my whole self was being taken care of. When I gave birth, she was right there with me, and made sure my husband felt involved too. She made sure my voice was heard and that my birth plan was followed as closely as possible. My labor was not what I had expected at all, and while not traumatic, it was difficult. I believe because of her guidance I was able to avoid c-section. One of the most valuable things was our debrief of the experience about three weeks after. She gave me time and space with her to process all that had happened.

I was fortunate to be able to work with her again. After previously experiencing a loss, I was having difficulty connecting with the next pregnancy, especially after finding out this baby would required induction and a planned NICU stay. She connected me with resources to help me cope. We worked together on a birth plan and how to advocate for me to get some time with the baby before he had to be transferred. She stayed with me after my husband went with the baby and made sure I ate and was settled into my postpartum room. Then she took me to the NICU. I would have been otherwise completely alone. Her presence was a huge comfort to me and my husband
