Choosing Heidy as our doula was one of the best decisions we made in our journey to becoming parents. We couldn’t have asked for a more supportive, knowledgeable, and caring person to help bring our son into the world. Heidy has an incredibly calm and reassuring energy that was paramount in helping me through labor. I can’t imagine going through it without her. She used her expertise to help me through the pain and anxiety - while also staying attuned to what my husband needed while he was suporting me. She has extensive experience working in hospitals across New York, and she knew how to navigate our hospital system and work with medical staff in a way that was smooth and reassuring. During our time in the hospital, Heidy made sure I understood exactly what was happening medically, and helped me feel safe and confident to make the decisions that I wanted. Heidy also visits prior to the birth to discuss your birth plan, and go over newborn care basics. We found this visit to be so invaluable - we learned about some newborn care in a class through the hospital, but having Heidy there to show us step by step was so reassuring. Even more invaluable is Heidy’s attentiveness to the postpartum period. After our son was born, she came over for a visit to help with lactation and my physical recovery, and to generally offer emotional support in an incredibly vulnerable period. Heidy also made herself available to talk about issues I was having with breastfeeding after this visit, and was so good about periodically checking in to see how we were doing. Knowing that she was still there supporting us made the first weeks of postpartum much easier, and made my husband and I feel cared for. We give Heidy the highest possible recommendation. We will be forever grateful for her, and she will always be a beautiful part of our son’s entrance into the world. If we have another baby, Heidy will be one of our first calls.
