Helen Martin was my doula for my second pregnancy. I chose her because she had vbac experience and so much wisdom/knowledge already with so many years of practice! I wanted a natural v-bac birth going into this pregnancy and had some fears lingering from my first traumatic delivery. Helen was able to take me in at 31 weeks pregnant and make me feel so empowered about my birth. She gave me so much tools, worksheets, templates, and affirmations that had me entering birth with excitement and peace! She kept in touch, had excellent communication, and was available on call 24/7 for me. I will always be thankful to God for sending Helen my way for a doula. At the hospital, I labored for 11 hours on pitocin being 41 weeks and 2 days. Helen was like a steady rock someone I could lean on! She advocated for me when things got hard and I was laboring in bath tub. She went above and beyond to request a wireless monitor for baby, aromatherapy, and food. She did everything possible to encourage me to keep going, praying for me when I was feeling like giving up! My husband and her made the best team for my birth. My baby was born weighing 9 pounds and 4 oz vaginally without an epidural! I couldn't have done that without Helen's support and assistance. I would highly recommend Helen for anyone looking to give birth. Something she does that goes above and beyond is offering 16 hours postpartum to come to your house and help in any way. I was amazed at that service and took advantage of it. Helen was able to come stay with me when my husband had to leave. She was able to cook breakfast, clean, do laundry, watch my baby while I showered, read books with my older daughter, went on walks, cleaned bathrooms, vacuumed, and mopped our floors. I felt so loved and supported with all the help from Helen! I'm so thankful for her and her humble, kind soul! I highly recommend her to anyone looking to have a positive birth story.
