We hired Katharine as our doula for our second child and were so happy we did! At first I wasn't sure how much support we would need as second-time parents intending to deliver at a birth center, but we had had a very positive experience with a doula for our first pregnancy and knew how helpful it could be to have support not just for me but for my spouse as well.
We were so glad we had Katharine's grounding energy and expertise for our journey into secondtime parenthood--especially when it turned out I needed to be induced at the hospital instead. She was crucial in helping me get through the unmedicated delivery I wanted. Prior to delivery, during our prenatal sessions, we discussed my preferred pain management measures and she worked closely with my husband on the day to help apply them and help me get through labor using massage, movement, encouraging words and more. Katharine also communicated skillfully with hospital staff and my attending midwife as a seamless part of my birth team.
Katharine was also able to bring her knowledge as an IBCLC to the experience, and was super helpful postpartum in troubleshooting some breastfeeding challenges we were facing. We are so grateful for her kindness and warmth at such a big shift in our lives, and would absolutely recommend her one hundred percent.
