We felt so grateful to have hired Heather, and I highly recommend her as someone to have at your side before, during, and after birth. We interviewed a number of folks to help us with our first child, and Heather felt like the best fit with her straightforward, supportive language, aligned values, and wealth of experience. We figured out relatively late in the pregnancy that we wanted a doula, but it was still very useful to have Heather come to our apartment a few weeks before my due date to discuss the process of childbirth and put together a birth plan. It turned out that my birth experience was incredibly smooth and uneventful, and I didn't even have to do any pain management before coming in to the hospital and getting an epidural. Heather came over right away when we let her know I was in labor, and she was great to have in our hospital room while we hung out and waited for my body to get ready. When it came time to actually push, Heather helped support my leg and took pictures while my husband caught the baby. Those pictures are now some of my most treasured, and I'm so happy she captured those moments. After we took the baby home, it was great to have Heather's insights over text, including when I got incredibly anxious about my son's basinnet. When we next saw her to discuss postpartum things, she was the first person to flag that my son's nap schedule probably needed to be adjusted.
