We chose Jessica to be our birth doula because of her calm, confident presence. From our first meeting, we felt a strong connection and were reassured knowing we’d have someone experienced by our side—someone who could advocate for our birth plan while keeping everyone calm, grounded, and informed.

In the weeks leading up to the birth, she checked in regularly and offered helpful tips for managing pregnancy symptoms and preparing for labor. During our prenatal meetings, she guided us through creating our birth plan, bringing up thoughtful questions and decisions that we hadn’t even considered.

When my water broke at home, she met us at the hospital within an hour. It was comforting to see that she already knew some of the doctors and nurses from previous births she had attended there—her familiarity with the environment helped put us at ease. Although our labor ended up being very long and complicated, with several unexpected medical issues, Jessica stayed with us the entire time. After more than 35 hours, our son was born via C-section. Throughout it all, she provided steady emotional support and helped us navigate every twist and turn while always honoring our birth preferences. She always knew when to offer comfort, when to advocate for our needs, when to suggest checking in with staff, and when to simply give us space.

After we left the hospital, Jessica visited us twice for postpartum support. Her first visit was the day after we came home, following a rough first night with our newborn. She arrived that morning and immediately reassured us and helped us figure out how to sooth our baby during those overwhelming early days. We are eternally grateful for her continued support beyond the birth.

I truly cannot imagine going through this experience without her. Her support made an incredibly tough situation so much more manageable, and we’re so grateful she was part of our birth story.
