Testimonial for Milla Blindauer
I'm extremely belated in posting this testimonial as our baby is now 9 months old. Over these past 9 months, I've told our birth story many, many times. And every single time, my partner and I say that hiring a doula was the best decision. I can't recommend Milla enough.
After taking a pregnacy, labor & delivery class and learning how having a doula reduces interventions, we decided to look into one quite late in pregnancy (around 34 weeks). We spoke with a few and decided to go with Milla because of her energy, and her experience with UWNW. I knew I wanted a natural delivery if at all possible, and felt like Milla understood my wishes. She helped prepare our home and we would text her after every visit those last weeks with updates. She was a great sounding board.
At the 41 week appointment, our LO was sunny side up and our OB thought that could have been why labor hadn't progressed. Milla shared a couple of helpful Youtube videos that I then proceeded to copy. Lo and behold, labor started that night and we went to the hospital the following morning. Milla met us there and labor progressed extremely fast. Milla started filling the bathtub as soon as we got into the room and that ended up being invaluable a couple of hours later. Milla was awesome during labor. Whether it was massaging my back with just the right amount of pressure, or pouring water down my back in the tub, she knew how to help get through the contractions. My partner basically copied her movements.
Our LO was born into the bathtub just 3 hours after our arrival at the hospital. I still look back on the experience with a profound sense of pride and gratitude. We will always be grateful to Milla for the role she played on that important day. If we have another child and are still in Seattle, I know who I'll be calling!
