I don’t even know where to begin, because words hardly feel like enough to capture what Katelyn meant to us during my labor and delivery. From the very beginning, she was an unwavering pillar of support — calm, knowledgeable, and always just a text away. Whether I had a random question or needed reassurance during those anxious final weeks, she was there, guiding us with warmth and compassion.
Then came the big day — and oh, what a movie-style labor it was. (Only 10% of pregnancies unfold this way, and no book, doctor, or classes could’ve prepared us.) When my mucus plug came out, Katelyn stepped in without hesitation. Even when the hospital initially sent us home, she calmly helped us understand what was happening and what to expect next. Only 2 hours later, my water broke with a dramatic gush — just like in the movies — she was already on her way to support us.
What followed was a true marathon: 26 hours of labor, no sleep, emotional highs and lows, and waves of intensity. Through it all, Katelyn stood by us like a rock. She helped us stay grounded when everything felt overwhelming and never wavered, even as the hospital dealt with a shortage of nursing staff. She guided me with position changes, and ensured I felt safe and supported — especially as I had opted for an epidural birth.
But beyond the physical support, Katelyn was a strong advocate for my birth plan. She made sure my voice was heard and my wishes were respected throughout the process.
If you’re considering hiring a doula, do it — and if you’re lucky enough to have one like Katelyn, you’ll be in the best hands. Her strength, knowledge, and genuine care made all the difference. If I ever do this again, I’d choose her in a heartbeat.
