Tammy was our doula for the birth of our second child and I highly recommend her! A little about this birth: I was planning a hospital birth at IU and was looking to have minimal interventions. I ended up needing to be induced for blood pressure, but otherwise had an intervention free birth using Hypnobabies hypnobirthing.
Tammy is one of the most genuinely kind people I’ve ever met. I chose Tammy because during our interview she was able to really understand me and what was important to me in birth experience. I felt she offered a very personalized approach.
Tammy went above and beyond throughout my pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Most notably, I used Hypnobabies in both my births to help me cope without pain medication. This is a fairly niche technique and, as far as I know, there were no local doulas trained in hypnobirthing. Tammy sought out the Hypnobabies doula training without me asking or expecting her to do so. That’s how dedicated she is to her clients.
Tammy is such a soothing presence and also just enjoyable to spend time with. She asked some very good questions during my birth process that I couldn’t think of in the moment, but provided helpful information. For example, she clarified that it would be very unlikely that I would need a C-section for blood pressure alone, which was a big relief. Tammy established good rapport with the medical team and she was able to gently nudge things towards my wishes without needing to be confrontational - again keeping that calm environment intact.
I believe Tammy’s description of a doula in our initial interview was ‘someone to mother the mother’. That was certainly my experience with her. If that sounds appealing to you, I would highly recommend considering Tammy for your doula!
