I could not have prayed for a better experience than the one my husband and I had with Liz as our doula. I found Balanced Birth Support later in my pregnancy, around 32 weeks. With this being my first full term pregnancy, I had some nervousness. But Liz was always there to give me peace of mind. Having her available via text or phone call whenever I had a question really helped ease me into the last weeks of pregnancy and even labor and delivery. The incredible amount of resources provided also kept my husband and I very informed and gave us confidence going into the transition of becoming parents. When my contractions began at home, I kept Liz in the loop via text. She reminded me to stay hydrated, eat well, and rest – basically, not to panic. My husband and I arrived at the hospital around 11pm at night and Liz arrived soon after. I was 9.5cm dilated, so things moved quickly. Liz immediately jumped in to help massage my back through contractions, help me maneuver into different positions, and was constantly reassuring me. She felt like a mother, a sister, a friend, a protector, a guide, and a source of comfort during a time that was brand new and a little scary for me. When our baby girl was born, she even took photos for us! After delivery, Liz stayed by our side. She helped me figure out breastfeeding and continued to remain a calming presence for me, my husband, and our new baby girl. Even though I’m only three a half weeks postpartum, I’m looking forward to being able to work with Liz again for any future children my husband and I may have.
