Testimonial for Leigh McBride, CD(DONA)
Two weeks ago, I gave birth to our second son. We had the wonderful pleasure of working with Leigh!
One thing we were afraid of at the start, was the feeling of having a stranger, on such an intimate and important day. On the contrary, Leigh was so personable and we could tell she deeply cares about her clients. We got along from the get go. Our visits and especially our birth day, we felt like we had not just a doula, but a friend and an ally, to comfort and guide us along.
Professionally, Leigh is super experienced, and has witnessed all kinds of births over the years. We wanted someone not just with textbook knowledge, but experience, which made her the perfect fit! We had an expected turn, that our baby turned out to have fetal growth restriction, and I had to be induced. The goal was still to have a medication/intervention free birth, and we were still able to, even though we needed pitocin and breaking of the water.
Leigh was really helpful with the pain management (using massage, different movements/positions/stretches, the TENS machine, etc.). She worked cooperatively with the midwives and nurses at the hospital, so we encountered no surprises, and all decisions were thoughtfully considered. She was not pushy, and respected our desires the whole way through.
I especially like that she met with us before and after the birth, as well! She was also responsive and available to questions and updates we had in the meantime.
If I could go back in time, I would have had my first son with Leigh as well! (We didn't do doula at all for our first.)
