When we first planned our home birth we did not think we needed a doula until we met Jessica through our prenatal classes. The prenatal classes were incredibly informative and empowering and through how Jessica spoke about birth we felt we would love to have her with us during our home birth. She was so kind to squeeze us into her busy schedule as we only decided we would want her assistance about a month before our due date. Having her with us and prep us for birth allowed me to give birth at home without being scared or anxious and trust my body and the process. The pain management techniques she used were a saving grace when I thought my limit and thought I couldn't do it without any pain meds. She brought in, set up and cleaned the birth pool which was a very powerful tool in getting me through the transition to pushing. She also cleaned our place afterwards, helped me shower and get comfortable after giving birth. Honestly, I can express how grateful I am for her assistance and presence. Trust me you want to have someone like Jessica with you especially if it's your first birth. We also received amazing support post partum and Jessica was always there to answer any questions we had. We feel truly blessed to have her with us during this journey and I wish that more women could have such a positive birth experience to look back to. So if you're thinking of getting a doula DO IT!
