Janice was our birth and postpartum doula this year for our first baby. From the start, it was clear that she cared immensely for our wellbeing and our experience of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She has a wealth of knowledge to share and experience to draw on, and her warm and encouraging nature helped us feel very comfortable with her and reassured when we were feeling anxious or uncertain.
We also really appreciated that Janice provided us with free access to the GentleBirth hypnobirthing app. Using the app helped when I needed to rest, find some calm, or clear my head. Also, we had requested photos of the moments right after delivery and she got lots for us to choose from. She was very discreet about taking photos (I didn't even notice when she was taking them), and careful to ask before our due date what kinds of things we would and would not like to have photographed. These photos have helped me hold onto the memories of seeing our baby for the first time. And in her postpartum care, she gave me very soothing foot massages, she was a reassuring and knowledgeable person to talk to, and she also helped by watching our baby (so we could rest or get some things done), cleaning, and cooking/baking. I’m celiac, and she had no problem prepping gluten-free food for me.
Janice went above and beyond for us. Our experience of this big life transition was so much more positive for having her supporting us through it.
