As a queer, multi-cultural family (Nicaraguan/US-American) it was important for us to have a doula who understood and aligned with our family's experiences, values and identities. Lola helped us to create a relaxing, supportive, (and even fun!) birthing environment that felt uniquely us. She helped advocate for my needs and desires during labor, and worked seamlessly with the care team at the UW Northwest Birth Center. Lola is also connected to a wonderful community of local birth workers, lactation consultants, etc. who she connected us with when we needed additional support postpartum.
