Meeting Doula Deb was like finding a missing puzzle piece we didn't even know we needed! While we originally planned to have her just for postpartum support with our first baby, we decided last minute to see if she could be there for our birth too. Deb was flexible and was able to support us in our last minute request. Best. Decision. Ever.Once my wife was in labor, Deb was able to talk with my wife over the phone to see how far contractions were apart and gave advice on breathing and next steps throughout the process. Deb was always well prepared and knew many tricks to ease my wives pain and make the birthing process smoother. At the hospital, Deb was our secret confidence booster. Having her there was like having a friendly translator for all the medical-speak, helping us understand our options without any pressure. The nurses loved her too - always a good sign! Through my wife's 36-hour labor journey, Deb was our cheerleader, coach, and calm harbor all rolled into one.We also had Deb for six nights postpartum over a couple week period. Deb was able to help us learn to swaddle, hold our baby, burp, change diapers, and recommendations on child products. This also allowed me to get a few nights sleep without being woken up by our newborn which was an incredible feeling.What really struck us was how natural it felt having Deb in our home during such a vulnerable time. She has this wonderful way of being both professional and wonderfully down-to-earth. We found ourselves looking forward to her visits, not just for the help, but for her warm presence and easy laugh.We still keep in touch with Deb via text, sharing updatesones. When we think about having another child, she'll definitely be our first call! She's more than our doula - she's become part of our family's story, and we couldn't be more grateful.
