My husband and I were on the fence about hiring a doula, since it’s an investment and we weren’t sure if we’d really need one. After talking with several women who had worked with Amanda, we decided to move forward—and I’m so glad we did!
Amanda supported us with two prenatal visits, during which she educated us on everything from labor preparation to what to expect in the hospital. She then spent over 30 hours with us during my labor, delivery, and even a surgery to repair a tear, and followed up with two postpartum visits to check in on our family.
When I had to be separated from my husband and newborn for surgery, Amanda advocated with the surgical team to be allowed to come with me so I wouldn’t be alone. Throughout my labor she was calm, steady, and invaluable. Even if my delivery had been straightforward, the prenatal and postpartum visits alone would have been worth it. I cannot recommend Amanda highly enough.
The icing on the cake is that my daughter and Amanda are birthday buddies. Amanda will certainly be invited to all forthcoming birthday parties as she is a part of the family now.
