Sarah is an amazing doula. We had planned on a birth center birth but ended up having to birth in the hospital after having an induction. This was one of my biggest fears, and Sarah helped keep me calm and centered. She was able to make the most of the hospital birth. Sarah’s knowledge of positioning and movement helped to get and keep the baby moving. She was able to normalize many of the experiences I was having that left untended, would have ramped up my anxiety and made the birth more difficult. We knew that we wanted doula support, and feel incredibly fortunate that Sarah was present at our birth.
Sarah’s postpartum check-ins were very helpful. She led us through processing the birth, sharing her perspective, and encouraging us to write down our own experiences. This created a lasting memento. Her care decreased my insecurities around breastfeeding, gave us space to explore new parent fears, and helped to build our confidence as new parents.
Today my child turns one and I am watching the videos Sarah took of the birth experience. I am grateful she was there and captured these moments. Sarah was my rock during the weeks leading up to the delivery, providing comfort and reassurance. She was my and my partners calm during the chaos of labor and delivery. If we end up getting pregnant again, Sarah will be the first part of the birth care team that we put into place!
