I cannot recommend Shamika enough. We weren’t even sure whether to hire a doula at first, but I am beyond grateful that we found Shamika. From the very beginning, she went above and beyond—sending us PDFs and Instagram links with helpful information and accounts, checking in regularly on WhatsApp and FaceTime, and making sure we felt prepared and supported before the big day. When I began to consider an induction, Shamika helped me think through the pros and cons in a non judgmental way.
On the day of my induction, Shamika arrived as soon as we called. And when my labor stalled, she provided not only calm reassurance and hands-on support, but also tapped into her doula network to gather additional tips and ideas. Through it all, she stayed upbeat and encouraging, which lifted our spirits and made such a difference in the room to both me and my husband.
We also had Shamika visit us postpartum, which turned out to be just as valuable as her labor support. She came to our home and patiently walked us through bottle feeding, baby wearing, and pumping, and even gave us time to run errands while she cared for our baby. Beyond the practical help, Shamika was simply a joy to be around. She is warm, easy to talk to, and such a supportive presence. During one visit, we even ended up watching a sports documentary together while she fed and soothed the baby; it felt like having both a trusted guide and a good friend around in what can be an isolating and stressful time.
Shamika was truly everything I wanted in a doula. She is knowledgeable, responsive, upbeat, and endlessly supportive. I can’t imagine having gone through this experience without her, and I would recommend her without hesitation to anyone considering a doula.
