We connected with Rachel early on in our pregnancy journey as having the support of a doula at our birth was very important to us. It’s easily one of the best decisions we made. Rachel was incredible throughout our journey. She has such a calm, warm, patient, caring, supportive presence and we loved getting to know her ahead of our big day. She walked us through things we could expect and eased our nerves about all our questions as first-time parents. Having Rachel with us on the day of my induction + day of labour + eventual emergency c-section made the memory of that time for me so so positive. I loved experiencing contractions with her expertise and guidance. Often she knew what I was experiencing and how to help before I myself even knew. Both my husband and I felt safe and calm in large part because of her presence with us. She had a magical way of helping us make the decisions that were right for us. When things took a turn, we both highly valued her insight and reassurance through the more intense c-section process. As soon as we were back in our room, Rachel helped set the foundations of my breastfeeding journey, something entirely new to me. Though throughout we had the support of our midwives, nurses, lactation consultations, etc, that were all valuable, Rachel provided a lot of that information herself but with much more individualized care and comfort. And the photos!!! I can’t believe that during all of this Rachel also captured the entire journey in her beautiful way. What a gift that we will treasure for the rest of our lives. She was also pregnant and in her 3rd trimester at our birth and was still so present for us! All 3 of us will forever be grateful for our Ms. Rachel.
