This was our second birth & Rachel was with us both times. Our first birth was unmedicated in a birth center & the second was unmedicated at home in the water. Picking Rachel was truly the best decision we could have made. The wealth of experience she brings to the table is unmatched & was a large reason why I had such wonderful births. We followed her recommendation of trying Body Ready Method this time & that made a huge difference this pregnancy. I enjoyed Spinning Babies, but I got overwhelmed by all of the info. Body Ready Method is extremely user friendly with weekly videos and resources that has kept my body & pelvic floor in check. Now that I am working through the program postpartum I can say that it far surpasses the YouTube videos I used after my first pregnancy.
Rachel is extremely supportive of your choices & a calming voice that knew what we needed without us even knowing or remembering we needed it. Things like cool rags, position adjustments, food, water, reminders, recommendations, the list is endless. I wanted very quiet births & Rachel was amazing at supporting us without disrupting my focused inner peace. Both of my babies were over a week late & Rachel took additional time to come see us & work her magic. I went into labor both times coincidentally quickly after her visits. I cannot begin to cover everything she helped us with, because many far surpass what I would ever expect from a doula. She provided evidence based knowledge & centered us when I panicked over GBS & newborn screening results. Many times she was also a soundboard to discuss recommendations for birth, because let’s be real there are so many options & unsolicited advice.
The little touches mattered - the flowers, food, check-in texts, adult convos when we were deep in the newborn days & loving my girls like her own. We are forever thankful for Rachel, she holds a special place in our hearts.
