I am so glad we hired a doula through Nova Birth Services and was paired with Shannon. This was my husband and my first pregnancy so having the extra support and resources was much appreciated. And having Shannon there for labor and delivery was much needed since my labor moved very quickly so it was easy for me to become overwhelmed but Shannon helped me stay grounded. I had a hard time communicating during labor because of the intensity of the contractions but that wasn't much of an issue since Shannon was able to see what I needed from counter pressure to position changes to needing water and more. Despite how supportive and involved my husband was he definitely would not have been able to do those things for me because this was new for him as well. originally I planned an unmedicated birth but with how quickly things escalated I opted for an epidural and Shannon continued to support me through that and made sure I wasn't stuck on my back the whole time during delivery. I was very thankful for that. Again so glad we hired a doula and had Shannon with us!!
