I met Chinelo at a doula training a couple of years ago and, when the time came, I knew I wanted her to be my doula. She was an incredible support to my husband and I, and someone we trusted to guide us through such a vulnerable time. During our prenatal visits she helped us practice pain coping techniques, found some exercises to ease my pregnancy discomfort, and prepped postpartum meals with me. Throughout labor, she was a grounding presence for me. Someone I could laugh and cry with, and turn to for advice when the decision-making became overwhelming. Postpartum, my baby had some difficulty latching and Chinelo helped me with expressing colostrum and finding donor milk while my supply came in. Most importantly, having someone to process my birth with was much needed and Chinelo was compassionate, a great listener, and we all felt truly cared for.
