Near my due date she had a family emergency and had to travel. It was certain now that she wouldn’t be there for my birth. In one of my regular appointments towards the end, things had gotten so complicated that we were to deliver early at 38 weeks. I got lucky that her work was winding up and she was travelling back. The moment I broke the news to her that I am headed to Labor and Delivery, she preponed her flight and my baby girl waited for her at the hospital. The best moment of this birth was seeing her walk through that door straight from the airport. I had no words, only tears of gratitude for her. She was all that I needed at that moment. Only family does that and she is my family.
She held me through it till the end and made an impossible feat possible. My baby needed some extra care post birth and there wasn’t a day she didn’t text and check up on me and baby. She again believed in me when I didn’t. She was is and will be a part of my story and heart forever. She is the best decision you will ever make for your baby. Because once she is onboard, its her baby not just yours. Her dedication, compassion, selfless love and attachment is no less than a mother’s for your child. The name indeed suits her- A DEDICATED DOULA!
