Working with Dasha was the single best decision we made for our VBAC. Having had two previous births—one vaginal and one C-section—I knew that for this birth, it was important to me to feel like I had tried everything possible. Hiring a doula eliminated the 'what if' feeling, so I would have no regrets regardless of how things turned out. My goal was to feel prepared and empowered to have an unmedicated and natural brith, and Dasha provided exactly what I needed to do just that!
Although we hired her late in my pregnancy, around 36 weeks, she quickly got up to speed. When I felt pressure to consider an induction, she was a crucial advocate, helping me stand firm in my desire for a natural birth while also providing me with a better understanding of other options.
At first, my husband was hesitant about hiring a doula for our third baby, but Dasha's support and ability to work seamlessly with both of us quickly made him a believer. He saw that she was there to support our family, not to replace him.
During labor, Dasha's knowledge of my birth plan and her ability to communicate it with the hospital staff were invaluable. I was fortunate that my baby was in a great position and my body worked with me, so we didn't face any tricky situations. My labor was beautiful, and thanks to her guidance, I felt confident and in control.
The most unforgettable part of our experience was Dasha's care for me right after birth. While my husband focused on our new baby, Dasha stepped in to provide calm support and education about the afterbirth, which I hadn't mentally prepared for. It was such a grounding moment.
We are so grateful for Dasha's presence and guidance and are now 100% believers in the power of doula support!
