I had the most phenomenal doula. Although I had applied for her services late, she quickly accepted me into her schedule without hesitation. From the beginning until the end, she was encouraging and offered me optimal support. Unbeknownst to me, having her there to assist me truly did feel like a blessing from God and the perfect fit because at first I thought I'd be doing this labor all alone. There were times during the process where I truly felt I have known her forever. She understood me intuitively, accommodated me and did everything to ensure I was not only comfortable but empowered.
The birth plan I created with her help, was followed to a T and she truly exceeded my expectations. She allowed me to see that I do have a voice worthy of acknowledgment in the hospital setting and affirmed that I am more than capable to do anything I put my mind to! If I had the chance at a home birth with her as my sole support system, I would undoubtedly do it that way. With her support a fast, painless, and serene birth experience is more than achievable. Her energy alone helped me to maintain a good mood and ground myself. The only I reason I say, "if", is because I did go into labor in a hospital and the nurses weren't nearly as great as Isylah, to say the least. Regardless, in the midst of chaos she was the calm. I felt so safe and trusted her judgement. Through her nature, I was reminded of God's immense love, support and guidance through every situation. With her aid, I gave birth in just 10 minutes with no complications and after all I can say, I feel amazing and completely satisfied. I have absolutely no regrets. I made the right choice having her by my side. I will truly cherish and hold dear to my heart those moments we shared! I am so thankful for the opportunity. God bless you-Octravia
